This is blog of the Deafinitely Creative project. Its all about getting deaf people to express their creativity through playwriting.
We had a competition in the summer to pick four ideas. Four lucky people, deaf and very talented won places in the Deafinitely Creative workshops. We will be following their progress as they develop their ideas into plays to be shown in Central London February 2012.
Vitalis comes under heavy questioning from our Andrew…watch his play Absence in Time next week at London’s RADA Studios in Deafinitely Theatre’s 4Play showcase.
Whoops….its been too long since anything was posted here. Things been crazily busy in the Deafinitely Theatre office but here is a clip of our Andrew talking to Lianne about her play, TwentyFortySeven.
And now we jump to the final workshop where tutor, Andrew Muir questioned our Stephen about his play, A Sweet Slice….
Back we go to Lianne. Her play, Twentyfortyseven sounds pretty creepy, a futuristic nightmare….well, for hearing people anyway!
Today its Vitalis’s second blog posting. Like Matthew and Stephen he’s talking about what he has enjoyed most and what has challenged him most. His play is called Absence in Time. Won’t reveal what is is about just yet - these writers are very secretive about their plays!
Its Stephen’s turn to talk about his ups and downs. His play is going to be called A Sweet Slice….its about three people in a room with one purpose and a last chance….a bit like our own Deafinitely Creative course I suppose….
Matthew is back for his second innings. He’s talking about what he has enjoyed most about the course so far and what has challenged him. Plus he has a fantastic new move to show us…..
Kate is bored at work…..she needs some excitement in her life…..
And now for Vitalis, our final writer. Recognise him? You should do. He was Prince Eddy in The Silent Royals this February. Taking part in this year’s 4Play must have inspired him to enter the competition….like the other writers, he is being very coy when it comes to giving us details about his play. Damn them! We’ll get more info out them next time…..
And moving onto our third writer, Lianne Herbert (she’s on the right). She is a fresh-faced graduate and is writing a play with an big aim - to help deaf and hearing people to understand each other better….good luck with that one Lianne!
